Happy 4th of July from Campaign for Uyghurs

The land of the free, and the home of the brave. On the occasion of the anniversary of this pivotal point in American history, we acknowledge the gift of freedom, and remember the hope that we hold on to for the Uyghur people to enjoy freedom and justice. We acknowledge the need to defend this right, and we ought not let those hostile to our principles use this freedom to defend the indefensible. It would be wrong to deny the many times that the United States, and its founders, did not stand for right morals. But we still hold these truths to be self-evident, whether or not they have always been applied correctly: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. 

Perhaps to that end, we might rewrite it for what we believe should be applicable for Uyghurs: 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men, not just Han Chinese, not just Chinese government officials, are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator, not the Communist Party, with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty (to not live in a concentration camp based on their ethnicity) and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. 

As Secretary Pompeo recently stated, “There is no equivalence between our two forms of government. We have a rule of law. China does not. We have free speech and embrace peaceful protest. They don’t.” In every way, shape, and form and from the founding of the Chinese Communist Party it has always been perfectly clear: the Chinese government does not have any respect for the rule of law, or for the dignity of human life. The very existence of the Chinese Communist Party has marred the world, not merely because they stand in opposition to the United States, but because they stand in opposition to the values of humanity. 

On the anniversary of this monumentally influential declaration, may we fully appreciate the values of freedom and continue to live in such a way that we advocate for these values to be granted to human lives all over the world, and especially to the Uyghurs as victims of current genocide because of CCP’s Han chauvinistic racism. Campaign for Uyghurs asks  today that the United States stand its rightful place as a true leader by leading the charge against the demonic murderers who are running the Chinese regime.
