Campaign For Uyghurs (CFU) supported a letter joined by 42 human rights and genocide prevention organizations requesting that the United States’ Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi move for swift passage of House Resolution 317 condemning the Uyghur genocide and the crimes against humanity currently being carried out by the Chinese regime.
CFU was privileged to meet with Speaker Pelosi in March 2021 to provide an update on the Uyghur genocide. CFU has been humbled by the Speaker’s ongoing communication and support for human rights. Her record of support for international human rights, as well as holding the Chinese regime accountable, is admirable. CFU looks forward to swift passage of this resolution, which would take a strong stance against the ongoing abuses. This action will provide further incentive for the current administration to take action that seeks justice for the victims and accountability for the Chinese regime responsible for this genocide.
In October of 2020, Senators Cornyn and Menendez introduced a Bipartisan Senate Resolution to designate the crimes against Uyghurs as genocide. CFU hopes to see another introduction to the Senate during this session in order to clearly communicate the bipartisan dedication of the United States to stopping the Uyghur genocide and putting an end to the lack of accountability applied to the CCP. This measure is critical to building international solidarity among nations seeking to build a coalition that respects human rights and religious freedoms.

CFU urges Congress to also take action on the Beijing 2022 Olympics, and ensure the CCP does not use the games as propaganda to mask their genocide. To see CFU’s campaign against the genocidal regime’s Olympic games, read here.
